Annual Operating Plan Preparation
To consistently achieve top performance targets, you need to know what those targets are and have a plan for how you are going to get there. Our Annual Operating Plans are the guide for farm management throughout the year. From feed budgeting to breeding and everything in between. The Annual Operating Plan is an invaluable document for ensuring team alignment and making sure that everyone involved knows what is expected for the farm.
Consultancy Services
The difference between top farm performance and average performance is all about making the right day-to-day decisions at the right time. Our consultants work alongside the farm manager to help them identify opportunities to optimise farm performance. The farm owner gets the added assurance of an independent perspective on how the farm is performing. Potential issues can be identified and solutions found before they have a chance to turn into costly problems.
Each farm visit includes a thorough examination of on-farm operations and is backed up with a comprehensive visit report including agreed actions and areas of focus.
Farm Management
Tambo provides a full management service. We act as the farm owners’ on-the-ground Chief Executive, overseeing every aspect of your farm business. These can be tailored to include:
- Day-to-day farm operations and finances
- Comprehensive monthly reports
- Annual budgets, operating plans and financial accounts
- Strategic planning
- Investment and divestment opportunities
- Feasibility studies and project management.
Feasibility Studies
Whether you are contemplating a new farming venture, a farm conversion or a change in farm practice, an initial feasibility study is an important tool to help guide your decision making. With our experience we can help you quickly and efficiently evaluate whether your idea has financial merit, and help you to determine the best way to achieve it.
Property Evaluation
The average dairy farm is worth in excess of $10 million. If you’re contemplating buying a dairy farm it’s worth getting the best advice as a poor decision can be very costly. Evaluating farms in Canterbury has the added complexity around water availability, environmental restrictions and localised climatic factors. Tambo offers a full property evaluation and due diligence service. We can determine whether a property is suitable for your intended use and help you assess a fair value.
Recruitment
Top quality farm management is the most critical ingredient to achieving high levels of farm performance and maximising profitability. Tambo can help identify and select suitable farm managers and help structure the appropriate contract. A constructive working relationship between the farm owner and the farm manager/CM is critical to the success and development of both parties. Tambo undertakes recruitment for farms where we have an ongoing input and can help mentor and coach the recruit as the farm develops.
If you are looking for a position, we are happy to receive your CV to hold on file should any appropriate positions arise that we think could be of interest to you. Please submit your CV to: employment@tambo.co.nz
Strategic Planning
Strategic planning seeks to look 5-10 years into the future to help guide decision making and assess opportunities as they come along. There are no right or wrong answers – it’s all about what you and those closest to you are trying to achieve (and often it’s a family decision). Tambo can identify the key questions that need answering and help facilitate a process to get those answers and draw up a plan.
